China Plans Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing
The Shanghai Urban Transportation Bureau will be paying special attention to problems such as overcharging, refusing rides, detouring, and tampering with taxi meters.

Authorities in Shanghai are planning extra checkpoints and road inspections of online ride-hailing vehicles beginning today, Asia Times reports.
The Shanghai Urban Transportation Bureau will be paying special attention to problems such as overcharging, refusing rides, detouring, and tampering with taxi meters. The government agency notified ride-hailing groups to remove any drivers and vehicles that are not qualified from their platform by the end of June.
Drivers and companies found violating the order will both be fined.
