Former Google engineer Anthony Levandowski was found guilty on one count of stealing trade secrets and has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, TechCrunch reports.
The sentencing is the result of a court case between Uber and Waymo, which was owned by Google prior to be acquired by Alphabet. A member of the founding team of Waymo, which was called Private Chauffeur at the time, Levandwoski left in 2016 to start Otto with other Google employees. Otto was then acquired by Uber less than a year later.
