Giants Star Dodges Damage Fees for Rental Car
New York Giants star Plaxico Burress falsely named an insurance company and cannot be reached to pay for damages.
New York Giants star Plaxico Burress is dodging an auto rental damage bill from a rental company in Clifton, N.J. Burress rented two cars, a Suburban and an Escalade, from Epic Car & Truck Rentals this summer and returned both with minor damages.
At the time of rental Burress had stated that he had a policy with Allstate. However, “When they went after Allstate, there wasn’t any Allstate coverage,” Harold Maurer, owner and president of Epic Car and Truck Rentals told Auto Rental News.
During the second rental, Burress once again claimed that he had Allstate insurance. According to Maurer, the two rentals “were so close together, we didn’t have any answers yet.”
According to news reports Burress paid $996.95 for the first rental but owed $1,759 in damages.
Khoury Alternative Claims Management is handling the subrogation. The damage for one vehicle has been paid for but the other bill is still outstanding and attempts to reach him by Khoury have been unsuccessful.
“The amount of money we in the rental car business lose in mystery damage is unbelievable,” said Maurer.
