As we return to some semblance of normalcy from the coronavirus pandemic, new legal issues and claims arising from the pandemic are just beginning. Are you prepared for an allegation that a customer contracted the virus from your car rental business?

As part of the 2020 ICRS Experience, convening virtually Oct. 19-23, attorneys Leslie Pujo of Plave Koch LLC and Wesley Hurst of Polsinelli will discuss several important decisions impacting the car rental industry throughout 2020, including potential coronavirus-related legal issues.

Pujo and Hurst will share with attendees updates on compliance with rental laws and limiting customer contact in view of customer COVID-19 concerns; types of claims that might arise from an alleged exposure to the coronavirus and the use of waivers to mitigate risk; federal and state legislation limiting liability for coronavirus-related claims; legal considerations for on-demand rental operations, and similar platforms, and others.

“The legal system is working overtime to figure out claims related to the coronavirus pandemic,” said Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and ICRS Experience conference chair.

“We’ve already seen a number of lawsuits filed against cruise ship operators; other sectors of travel could be next. This seminar is essential for operators to understand the new legal landscape and their obligations, as well as how to mitigate exposures in their businesses.”

The seminar “2020 Legal Update: Understanding COVID-19 Legal Claims and Other Developments” convenes Thursday, Oct. 22 at 11am PST. ICRS Experience is free for car rental operators.
