Franchising accounts for about $890 billion of economic output for the U.S. economy, but it’s often misunderstood.

At the 2016 International Car Rental Show, two experienced lawyers will present the seminar “Franchising in the New Millennium: This Ain’t Your Grandfather’s McDonald’s.”

Leslie Pujo, attorney and owner of LaPlaca Pujo, and Wesley Hurst, an attorney at Polsinelli, will analyze recent developments in franchising from a legal and regulatory perspective — not only in the U.S. but also abroad.

The seminar will highlight key regulations and court cases that have steered franchise law. Additionally, attendees will learn more about the factors that form a good franchise agreement for both the franchisor and franchisee.

”Franchising is a unique business model that relies on the combined efforts of independent businesses – the franchisor and the franchisee," said Pujo. "Now, both franchisors and franchisees must adapt to changes in industry [like the car rental industry], as well as to new and changing laws [such as joint employment]. As both the car rental industry and franchising evolve, it is important to take another look at franchising, including some of the basic principles, so that franchisors and franchisees can successfully navigate the changing business and legal landscape together.”

The 2016 International Car Rental Show will be held April 17-19 at Bally’s Las Vegas. Click here to view the full schedule.
