March Rates Continue Year-Over-Year Decline
According to Rate-Highway and The Tennant Group’s 50-City Survey, the average overall rates in March were down $3.36 from a year ago. Washington Dulles International Airport had the highest rate at $90.07 while San Diego International Airport marked the highest rate at $32.27.
Rate data provided by Rate-Highway, a leading provider of revenue management services for the auto rental industry. Rates are an average of aggregator/OTA rates for all vendors present in the markets listed on the date of the survey. These tables and graph show the average of all base rate quotes per day for an ICAR at the six or 50 airports shown, for arrivals 15 to 21 days ahead of the date of the survey, for two- and seven-day rentals.

The March average rate quotes for a mid-size car (ICAR) at the top 50 U.S. airports was down $3.36 from a year ago — continuing the downward trend we have seen recently. Easter is two weeks earlier than in 2014, and thus the spike in rate quotes occurred earlier. But it was not enough to pull rates up to last year’s level.
The top region continued to be the Northeast, but it was down the most from last year, while the Southeast and Northwest regions were both up. Washington Dulles International Airport had the highest rates at $90.07 for March and $74.22 for the last 52 weeks. The lowest was San Diego International Airport at $32.27 for March and $29.46 for 52 weeks.
