The Montana State Senate voted Monday to increase the state's car rental sales's tax from 4% to 6%, AP reports.
The state is expected to generate about $2.8 million a year from the tax. Part of the revenue would help fund transportation services for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
The car rental tax increase, along with other tax bills dealing with medical marijuana and hotels, will not be put up to a vote in the Republican controlled senate, where it's uncertain if it will be passed.
