Sixt, an international provider of short- and long-term car rental services, launched its operations in Libya and struck a new franchise agreement in Jordan. These moves will help Sixt expand in North Africa and the Middle East.

Sixt customers will be able to use Sixt’s services at locations in the city of Tripoli as well as a service to Tripoli International Airport. Customers can choose from a large variety of brand new vehicles including Volkswagen, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota. In addition, Sixt Libya offers exclusive limousine services for those customers who want to be driven.

“The development of the Libyan market and current investment projects by multinational companies exhibits for us the best argument to enter the market. Together with our new franchisee we are confident that we will be able to benefit from this development and use the first mover advantage to define international service standards in Libya,” said Detlef Krehahn, Vice President of Sixt International Franchise.

“We believe in our experienced team to develop with Sixt the spirit of mobility and create a momentum to add value to the car rental concept and customers in our market,” said Mohamed Atia, managing director of Sixt Libya.

The regional network of Sixt in Northern Africa was established in 1998 when Sixt entered the markets in Morocco and Tunisia. In addition to these countries, customers can also rent vehicles in Algeria and Egypt.

Sixt also continues its expansion in the Middle East with a new franchise agreement with the Abu Khader Group, a business group in Jordan with many years of experience in the automotive and car rental industry.

“Jordan has become increasingly attractive for our business and leisure travelers. With our new partner, Abu Khader Group, we will expand our services in Jordan and continue growth in the region. We are convinced that this striving region is ready for mobility services the Sixt way,” Krehahn said.

The current location network includes two stations in Amman, which offer a complimentary shuttle service for customers arriving at Queen Alia International Airport and will be further expanded in the following months.

“We are looking forward to cooperating with Sixt. Sixt represents premium products and excellent customer service. Therefore we are confident that Sixt Jordan will play a leading role in the Jordanian market in the future based on our partnership today,” Nicola Abu Khader, CEO Abu Khader Group.

Sixt established its regional network in Middle East in 2001. The regional network includes Bahrain, Dubai, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Qatar. In August 2009, Sixt opened its first station in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.
