Sojern, a data-driven traveler engagement platform, has released its latest travel trends for the fall.

Although business travel is struggling, leisure travel is continuing to thrive. According to Sojern’s third quarter report, leisure accounted for 72% of U.S. travel search/bookings while business travel only accounted for 28%.

According to Sojern, the top 10 fall destinations for U.S. travelers include: 1) New York City; 2) Chicago; 3) San Francisco; 4) Los Angeles; 5) Denver; 6) Las Vegas; 7) Washington, D.C.; 8) Houston; 9) Boston; 10) Seattle

Here are some other insights from Sojern’s report:

  • Seattle bumped Philadelphia off the top 10 destinations list.

  • Washington, D.C., dropped on the list, which may suggest a weaker business travel demand.

  • For the first time this year, females traveled more than males (51% for females versus 49% for males).

  • For duration of stay, 41% of travelers stayed six days or longer in Q3 (compared to 38% in Q2).

  • For the number in party, group travel increased in Q3 with 4% booking with three people and 4% travelling with four or more people (compared to 3% with three people and 2% with four or more in Q2).

The third quarter report was based on an analysis of more than 520 million traveler intent points from July through September.
