Vermont Halts City's Car Rental Tax

Lawmakers in Vermont have decided not to move forward with a vote on the city of South Burlington's proposed car rental tax, the VT Digger reports.
The proposed 0.5% tax on short-term car rentals in the city was largely approved by the voters earlier this year. Funds generated were to be designated for road repair and emergency services around South Burlington.
The Vermont House's Ways and Means Committee decided not to move forward with a vote on the legislation after hearing from car rental lobbyists and other government officials.
