Washington State: King County Stadium Taxes Expire October 1
Bonds to pay for Safeco Field will be paid off in September. Businesses are to continue collecting the tax through September 30.
A special car rental tax levied in King County to pay for the construction of Safeco Field will end on October 1, 2011.
Since 1996, King County car rental agencies have been collecting an extra two percent tax on retail car rentals. The revenue has been used to help pay the Safeco Field construction bonds. Those bonds will be paid off in September.
Businesses are to continue collecting the tax through September 30, 2011. The collected tax must be remitted to the Washington State Department of Revenue on the business's next excise tax return.
