Zipcar Expands Portland Fleet with Honda Fit EVs
The Honda Fit EV battery electric vehicles (BEV) will be available to rent at Portland State University.
Zipcar Inc. announced on Feb. 26 the addition of Honda Fit EV battery electric vehicles (BEV) to the Zipcar Portland, Ore. fleet. The first round of vehicles is located at Portland State University.
Zipcar members — ages 21 and over — can reserve the vehicles starting at $10.25 per hour.
ECOtality Inc. (ECTY), a clean electric transportation and storage technology company, is giving Zipcar members access to the company’s Blink Network of charging stations to use during their reservations.
The Honda Fit EVs are equipped with a Blink InCard that provides access to the charging stations.
Zipcar also launched an EV member education program available for members to learn more about the electric vehicles, watch instructional videos and go through an orientation process.
"The new EVs add to the selection of smart and sustainable vehicle options Zipcar currently offers, and will help our members further reduce their environmental impact by driving on electricity only," said Zipcar Portland General Manager Jeremy Nelson.
