Avis Budget Group and Uber have signed an agreement for Avis Budget’s carsharing unit Zipcar to supply cars for Uber’s ride-hailing drivers.
The program will first launch in Boston. Uber drivers will be able to reserve Zipcars by the hour, according to Avis Budget. The four-door sedans will be equipped with Zipcar technology to offer self-service access to certain vehicles.

"Our quality, well-maintained vehicles, coupled with Zipcar's technology, will give Uber's driver partners wheels when they want them."
"This partnership opens the way for more people to drive when they want and earn what they need, even if they don't own a car," said Meghan Verena Joyce, regional general manager for Uber's East Coast Operations. "It's one more way we're helping people unlock a flexible opportunity to make money in ways that work for them."
