Portugal's National Road Safety Administration (ANSR) has signed an agreement with leading car rental companies which will allow the ANSR to use a database provided by the agencies in order to identify rental car drivers.

According to Portugal News, this agreement will allow the ANSR to more easily find drivers who have traffic violations, and reduce notification time by half.

In 2018, about 100,000 cars were rented during peak season, the Association of Driverless Car Hire Manufacturers reported. This year, the association expects that number to increase 7%.
