APRIL FOOLS! In honor of April Fools' Day, Alamo Rent A Car released this press release:

Alamo Rent A Car will be offering its customers fully-restored and operational versions of the sporty, wood-paneled iconic station wagons known as “woodies.”

Beginning June 15, Alamo will provide a select number of “woodies” in 10 U.S. test markets, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Dallas, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Orlando, Memphis, San Diego, and St. Louis.

Featuring front-wheel-drive and simulated wood-grain sheet vinyl augmented with three-dimensional, simulated wood framework, the classic cars will provide AM radio and manual roll-up windows, according to the company. The station wagons will be available starting at $29.99 per day, with air conditioning available for an additional $3 per day. Printed 13” x 10” road atlases will be available by request.

“At Alamo, we know vacations are all about making memories. What we’ve learned is that many of our customers actually want to look back – both literally and figuratively – and relive their childhood vacation memories with their own kids,” said Rob Connors, vice president of brand marketing for Alamo. “With our new selection of ‘woodies,’ Alamo customers can enjoy nostalgic features like rear-facing seats, white-wall tires and swing-down tailgates to help bring back those favorite family vacation memories from their youth.”

Reservations for these classic cars will be available at www.alamo.com beginning May 1.
