Avis Budget Group Inc. has been named one of America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs) by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
The national recognition honors corporations for supplier diversity programs that reduce barriers and drive growth for women-owned businesses. Avis Budget is the only car rental company to earn a spot on the annual listing, and this marks the 16th consecutive year that Avis Budget has been named to the list, according to the company.
"We believe in WBENC's mission to fuel economic growth globally by enhancing opportunities for women-owned businesses and have a long-standing culture of embracing diverse suppliers," said Larry D. De Shon, CEO of Avis Budget Group. "We're proud to be among America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises once again."
Avis Budget was one of 62 U.S. companies who met the standards to be recognized as one of America's Top Corporations listing for 2015, according to the company. Other companies include Chevron, General Motors Co., Lockheed Martin Corp., PepsiCo, Pfizer, and United Parcel Service.
"We are so proud of WBENC's Top Corporations, including Avis Budget Group, for choosing to set the standard for access and increase opportunities to women suppliers in new markets," said Pamela Prince-Eason, president and CEO of WBENC. "WBENC-Certified WBEs in turn are able to fuel innovation and empower communities through economic growth and job creation."
