Avis Celebrates 10th Anniversary of China Operations

Avis China was established in 2003 as a joint venture car rental company with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Today, the company operates in more than 40 cities at 170 locations.

Avis Car Rental announced March 4 its 10th anniversary in the People's Republic of China.

In 2003, Avis China was the first joint venture car rental company with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. in China. Today, it operates 170 service locations in more than 40 cities.

In 2012, the revenues of Avis China grew 22% to more than $100 million, according to the company.

Avis China said it is a popular choice for travelers celebrating Chinese New Year and other major holidays. It is also respected among corporate clients such as Bosch, General Electric, Siemens and Tyco.

Avis provides travelers in China with a wide range of vehicles from economy to mini-buses along with its express rental service, Avis Preferred. Other Avis services and products include chauffeur service, GPS navigation devices, vehicle damage coverage and personal property protection packages, and vehicle leasing services.

“Rental vehicles continue to be in high demand in China; in fact, we have had double-digit growth for the past five years,” said Latin America/Asia Pacific Avis Budget Group President Patric Siniscalchi. “We're proud to deliver the kind of service that travelers trust and we look forward to continued strong growth for many years to come.”
