The award was presented to the car rental company at the 2007 World Travel Awards by the Travel Agents Worldwide.
Avis Rent A Car System, LLC was recently recognized by travel professionals around the world as North America's Leading Car Hire at the regional World Travel Awards for The Americas, held recently in New York City.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate achievements in all sectors of the global travel industry.
Candidates for WTA nomination are based upon the previous year's voting, with votes cast by travel agents from more than 160 countries around the world. These are experienced and discerning business people.
"Travel professionals know that Avis provides them with the tools they need to do their job, as well as the added amenities and products that ensure that their customers will enjoy their rental experience," said Gerard Quirk, vice president of domestic travel, Avis Budget Group.
