PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Avis Rent A Car System Inc. announced that Buddy Altus is the company's new director of electronic distribution. Altus was most recently the director of customer relationships for Digital World Services, a division of Bertelsmann. Prior to that he spent more than 10 years with American Express in various marketing positions, culminating in the leadership of its Internet professional services group. He brings to Avis extensive experience in the development and marketing of electronic distribution products within the travel, corporate and entertainment sectors.
"The electronic distribution area within Avis is a vital part of our marketing efforts. We're pleased to bring Buddy on board because he brings the experience we were looking for to grow this important channel," said Scott Deaver, executive vice president of marketing for Avis.
Altus received a bachelor's degree in computer science engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983, and a MBA in finance and marketing from the Columbia University School of Business in 1990.
