A shooting at a pool party in Union County, N.C. left one man dead and another injured early Sunday morning. The deceased had rented from van rental company Bandago.  

The shooting happened at a rented Airbnb with as many as 300 in attendance, according to WBTV.com. It may have been provoked by an ongoing dispute between the two men who were shot. 

After the shooting ended, the victim, 34-year-old Jimman Lee Darrente Rice, was placed in the rental van and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the report. Charges have yet to be filed.

Bandago owner Sharky Laguana said the van, a Mercedes Sprinter, has been impounded by police. Laguana says a detective told him it could take as long as six years before the vehicle would be returned to Bandago's rental fleet, as the vehicle would not be released until all trials and appeals have been concluded.

"From our perspective it was an ordinary rental,” Laguana said. “It's frustrating our vehicle could be tied up in an evidence yard for so long when the vehicle appears to have no direct connection to the crime. We'll be pushing back on that, and I guess we'll just have to see what happens. 2020 has been a wild year, that's for sure. "
