car2go’s carsharing service has launched at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to a report by the Star Tribune. In the 18-month test program, there will be five car2go spaces available at terminal 2. Each space can fit two of car2go’s smart fortwo vehicles.
Drivers can drop off the carsharing vehicles at the parking area near the departures drop-off zone, according to the report.
There will be an extra $7.50 “convenience fee” for car2go vehicles picked up or dropped off at the airport, according to the report. This will be in addition to the 41 cents per minutes charged normally for car2go’s service.
“Our members said they wanted to be able to begin and end trips at the airport, and we listened,” Josh Johnson, car2go’s Twin Cities general manager, told the Star Tribune.
car2go has been operating in Minneapolis since 2013 and in St. Paul since 2014.
