Chrysler Recovery Efforts Will Continue to Rely on Fleet
Chrysler Group's chief executive says fleet customers such as rental car companies are “the anchor on which I can rebuild,” and adds the turnaround might take another two years.
Chrysler Group’s chief executive predicted the company will sell 1.1 million new cars and trucks in the U.S. this year, although he admitted about 25% of the sales will be made to fleet operators such as rental car companies, according to an article on CNNMoney.com.
Commenting at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Sergio Marchionne said the sales increase would be a nice increase over the approximately 930,000 vehicles the company sold last year.
But he said fleet customers were the first customers he met when he took control of Chrysler’s assets last year as part of the company's bankruptcy process and said the company would “continue to rely on fleet.”
