ST. LOUIS -- Enterprise Rent-A-Car this month opened its first branch in Alaska. With the new Anchorage location, Enterprise now has a presence in all 50 states.

"This business was started in 1957 based on the simple philosophy of, 'Take care of our customers and employees first and profits will follow,'" said Andy Taylor, Enterprise chairman and CEO. "This mission has led us to expand throughout North America, as well as many locations in Europe. We look forward to the challenges and opportunities of this new market."

After more than two years of planning, the branch opens with a selection of vehicles chosen for Alaska's climate and terrain -- SUVs, trucks and cars. Many have 4x4 capabilities, all are outfitted with block heaters.

The new branch will be located on East 4th Avenue near Ingra Street. Enterprise plans to add a second Anchorage branch in the next year.

"The addition of a company like Enterprise to Anchorage will provide the community a greater selection of rental vehicles ready to meet a variety of needs," said Jennifer Pierce Koenig, Alaskan native and Anchorage city manager for Enterprise.
