Europcar Australia is supporting Greenfleet as it launches its Great Ocean Road Restoration Project.
The nonprofit has started planting trees in Wongarra, along Victoria’s coastal site, where it aims to plant a total of 6,500 native trees over the next several weeks. More than 20 native species — such as Manna Gum, Drooping Shoeak, and Hop Wattle — will be planted and will provide habitat for animals including koalas, owls, and wallabies.
According to Europcar Australia, the project is funded by its carbon offset program, which launched in 2006 to reduce the impact of the company’s fleet on the environment.
“We are pleased to get behind Greenfleet’s Great Ocean Road Restoration Project, which will have lasting benefits for native animals living in the area and ensure tourists can visit for years to come,” said Ron Santiago, managing director of Europcar Australia and New Zealand.
“We are excited to be working with our supporter, Europcar Australia, to restore ecosystems that provide important habitat for koalas,” said Wayne Wescott, CEO of Greenfleet. “This is a long-term solution that recognizes that practical climate action is a key focus for sustainability.”
