Learning Management System Offers Interactive Training

In less than 10 years, millennials will consist of over 70% of the workforce. Is your company successfully capturing and retaining employees from this demographic?

Vykon Solutions, a performance solutions provider, offers a learning management system (LMS) that helps keep employees engaged during training. This type of system allows employees to receive content through “pull learning” rather than “push learning.” With pull learning, a team member usually feels more connected and is more willing to stay engaged, according to Shona Nabity, president of Vykon Solutions.

Vykon Solutions’ learning management system includes blended learning, where employees learn from workers of all generations; they can ask each other questions, comment, and share, according to Nabity.

“Millennials need engagement, want to be part of a company’s objectives, and want to feel that their skills are being fully used,” said Nabity. “Millennials consider training to be focused on the wrong things if it doesn’t speak their language and then content is perceived as compliance rather than supportive.”

Classroom-style training can be ineffective if it’s not interactive. If told to sit in a room and read manuals, employees can quickly lose interest, but an activity such as a role-play session can increase engagement if everyone is asking questions and talking to each other, says Nabity. Employees tend to want to learn from peers in their environment instead of in a classroom setting.

Content can be created to include a variety of methods such as literature, online sessions, small presentations, videos, and quizzes. Analytics display ROI instead of assuming ROI from training; users can keep learning by prescribing what is needed to get better, according to Nabity.

All content is accessible in one system, providing data on usage and results.

“With features that appeal to all generations in a company’s workforce, a learning management system can help staff members feel more empowered and connected to the company’s brand,” said Nabity.
