Michigan County Approves Car Rental Assessment Fee
County commissioners expect the assessment fee to generate $5,000 per month.

Lawmakers in Marquette County (Mich.) approved a resolution to implement a car rental assessment fee at Sawyer International Airport, the Mining Journal reports.
Beginning Aug. 1, car rental agencies will be required to charge customers a $2.50 assessment fee on each vehicle transaction. The collected fees will be paid to the airport monthly, and will then be set aside for rental agency improvements. County, airport, and car rental agency officials will be consulted on how best to spend the collected funds.
