No-Hassle Flying Act Becomes Law
The bill will allow international travelers to the U.S. from preclearance countries to avoid having their baggage re-screened upon arrivals.
The No-Hassle Flying Act, S. 3542, became public law after President Barack Obama signed the Act on Dec. 20.
The bill improves the baggage screening process for international travelers to the U.S. by allowing travelers entering from preclearance countries to avoid having their baggage re-screened once they arrive.
Baggage screened at airports in preclearance countries is required to meet U.S. Transportation Security Administration standards.
“The No-Hassle Flying Act will maintain security while improving the travel experience for millions of international travelers,” said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association. “This is the kind of common sense legislation that makes a demonstrable difference in the facilitation of travel, and it makes our destination more appealing for welcoming travelers to the U.S.”
