Not a Traditional Operator? There is an Industry Event for You

As it has for 23 years, the auto rental industry will descend on Las Vegas in April for the annual International Car Rental Show (ICRS).

The auto rental market is changing, along with transportation in general. ICRS is evolving too. While its ongoing mandate is to serve the traditional backbone of the industry, ICRS recognizes that new operators are providing vehicles to consumers and businesses in innovative ways.

Independent carsharing operations now serve residential buildings, corporate campuses, and commuters. Private entrepreneurs have emerged to provide fleet to Uber and Lyft drivers and the general public through peer-to-peer platforms.

Automakers have become service providers, offering fleet vehicles to multiple segments in a variety of ways. As well, the major car rental companies are experimenting with new services, models, and partnerships.

“Whether they come from traditional car rental or new business models, these operators have one thing in common — the need for business sustainability,” says Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and conference chair. “That’s where the International Car Rental Show comes in.”

“Seasoned and new operators involved with fleet — the business use of vehicles — will benefit from the resources, education, market intelligence, best practices, and networking opportunities available at ICRS and Bobit Business Media’s other fleet-related events,” Brown says.

In particular, ICRS regularly covers subjects such as fleet buying and remarketing, auction services (brick and mortar and online), insurance, telematics, legal and regulatory affairs, vehicle subrogation, employment and human resources, and more. “The education and subject matter experts available at ICRS are relevant to operators of all stripes,” Brown says.

At 2018 ICRS, these seminars will examine new business models and opportunities:

• Understanding the New Fleet Entrepreneurs
• A Counterless Experience — Innovating without Reinventing the Wheel
• From Bitcoin to A.I.: Emerging Tech Impacting Car Rental

These seminars and others will provide business best practices to all operators:

• Understand the Wholesale Market, Improve Holding Costs
• Protecting Your Workplace from Sexual Harassment
• Getting the Job Done: The Mes  s behind Success
• Preventing Rental Vehicle Cybersecurity Breaches and Terrorism Acts
