PHOENIX -- Authorities at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport announced that construction of a consolidated rental car facility will begin this fall. The project will provide "a consistent and level playing field for all car rental companies," said Tamie Fisher, Sky Harbor special projects administrator.
Facility plans call for a three-level structured parking deck with a customer service building on top. The facility will be located between 16th Street and Interstate 10, and between Sky Harbor Circle South and Interstate 17.
Phoenix ranks as the fourth largest car rental market in the U.S. From July 2001 to June 2002, the airport generated $250.8 million in car rental revenue.
