Rental Car Snake Reunited With Owner
A snake found in the glove compartment of a rental car was reunited with its owner after two weeks.
A snake that had been found in the glove compartment of a returned rental car has been returned to its owner, according to Fox News.
The snake’s owners, Richard Houston and Roseanne Burks, had initially lost the snake when they went to a video rental store. When they left to go inside the store, Sammy, as the snake is affectionately called, was resting comfortably in the car. But when they came back to the car, he was gone.
They searched under the seats, in the trunk, and everywhere else, but could not find Sammy and assumed that he had been stolen.
Another customer then rented the car and drove around with the snake curled up in the glove compartment. After it was returned a second time a Budget Rental employee opened the glove compartment during routine cleaning and was startled to see the four-foot red-tailed boa staring him straight in the eyes, says Fox News.
Animal Control was called and actually had to tear apart the dashboard to remove it.
Owners Richard and Roseanne then saw the report on Fox news and knew right away that the snake was their Sammy and called Animal Control to reclaim the pet.
