MEMPHIS, Tenn. –- The Shelby County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting death of Lorenzo Richards, a 29-year-old Enterprise Rent-A-Car employee in the Memphis area. Richards was found dead in a roadway near Meeman Shelby Forest State Park on July 7. He had multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators believe that Richards was shot numerous times at a separate, unknown location before he was left at the park site, said Sgt. James Mayes.

At press time, the department had taken no suspects into custody and had not established a motive for the killing. The rental car that Richards had been driving was recovered several days later at a separate location, Mayes said.

In an unrelated incident on Aug. 22, local violence touched another Enterprise location in Memphis. A 23-year-old man crashed his Buick Roadmaster through the fence at an Enterpise location after he was shot while driving along the Getwell highway. Enterprise employees quickly called 911.

The victim, Michael Nelson, later died of his injuries at Delta Medical Center, said Memphis Police Department Homicide Lt. Joe Scott. A suspect has been taken into custody. Scott said the motive for the homocide appeared to be a "personal vendetta."
