Sixt Rent-a-Car officially opened in the San Diego International Airport yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the airport’s consolidated rental facility (conrac). The ribbon cutting was officiated by Daniel Florence, co-president of Sixt USA, and Jerry Sanders, former mayor of San Diego and current president of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

"San Diego is a huge market for leisure and tourism, and we’re thrilled to be present here,” Florence said. “Our team is actively engaging in the tourism and business community to learn what we can do to be a great local partner.”
Florence noted the importance of the San Diego market, which generates more than $10 billion in tourism dollars. “Right now, we’re in the small market operator’s area [in the San Diego conrac], but I think we can grow in San Diego similarly to how we’ve grown in Miami, where we now have a 10% share,” he said.
Sixt, the fifth largest car rental company worldwide, has more than 2,000 locations in more than 100 countries worldwide. In the United States, Sixt is focused on upgrading and improving existing locations and expanding to new markets as rapidly as possible, the company said.
