Tourico Holidays, a wholesale travel broker, has announced a 300% year-over-year increase in gross revenue from its car rental business. This is driven primarily from its global network of direct connect partnerships.

As a result of its growth in the car rental segment, Tourico has, for the first time, established a new team dedicated exclusively to its car rental business, according to the company.

“Tourico has direct connect car rental partnerships in more than 100 different countries, and our distribution clients are afforded real-time availability and prices that only a high-volume buyer can secure,” said Ofir Cohen, executive vice president of strategic development for Tourico Holidays. “I think the results of our improved car rental sector speak for themselves. The more products that get sold through our channels, the more car rental companies realize the value that we can bring to their business.”

Currently, Tourico Holidays has partnerships with Hertz, Avis Budget Group, Sixt and Enterprise Holdings (Enterprise, Alamo, and National). Tourico is also finalizing deals with Europcar, Advantage Rent a Car, E-Z Rent-A-Car and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, says the company.

As part of its plan to increase business in the car rental sector, Tourico Holidays has appointed Konni Marshall as its new vice president of business development for car rentals. Formerly with The Hertz Corp. for 27 years, Marshall brings knowledge of both leisure and corporate client management in car rentals.

Additionally, Yoseph Parpara, who has served as the head of Tourico’s connectivity development and integration of third-party companies since 2003, will now head the development of the organization’s car rental technology. Specifically, Parpara will manage connectivity, developers and quality assurance employees within car rentals, according to the company.

“The car rental sector of Tourico has exploded in the past year, and with a specialized new team and added focus, there’s no reason we can’t triple our growth again in 2016,” said Marshall.
