Following a disagreement with local regulators, Uber has put its ride-hailing service on hold in Macau, China, as of July 22, according to a report by Tech Crunch. Uber hopes to return to Macau.

“By pausing, we hope to open the door for a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders in Macau; and enabled a business environment that realizes the full benefits of ride-sharing for everyone,” Uber wrote in a blog post. “We are already exploring ways to serve the city again, and have had initial discussions with business partners, including transport operators and hotels.”

In Taiwan, Uber stopped its service for a similar reason at the beginning year, but it resumed its service through a partnership with licensed rental car companies, according to the report.
