Construction on Los Angeles International Airport’s Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility (ConRAC) continues with less than 1% of concrete left to be poured. This will be the largest ConRAC facility of its kind once completed, according to Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).

Over the summer, LAX ConRAC Partners made a lot of progress at the site of the future ConRAC facility. According to LAWA, completed tasks include installation of the ConRAC Automated People Mover station canopy, structural steel installation for the customer service buildings, start of construction for ramps connecting the Ready Return/Idle Storage building to the Quick Turn Around building, and continued installation of solar panels on the exterior.

This fall, expected projects on the ConRAC include:

  • Completion of the north and south speed ramps on the Ready Return/Idle Storage building and ongoing construction of the ramps connecting that building to the Quick Turn Around building.

  • Continued exterior stair structure installation for the Ready Return/Idle Storage building.

  • Ongoing construction of the customer service buildings.

  • Continued installation of elevators and escalators.

The ConRAC facility will consolidate multiple rental car companies currently spread out across the LAX area into one convenient location. It will connect to the LAX Central Terminal Area via the Automated People Mover train system.

The facility is one of the major components of LAX’s $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP), which will improve access to LAX, provide new pick-up/drop-off options for travelers, and provide the long-awaited connection to regional transportation.
