In light of recent events surrounding COVID-19, there have been a handful of ICRS speaker cancellations due to travel bans. This includes Fabrizio Ruggiero, deputy CEO of Europcar, who was scheduled as the opening keynote speaker.

“It is unfortunate that Fabrizio can’t join us this year, though understandable under the circumstances,” said Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and conference chair. “We look forward to bringing him back in a keynote position for the next ICRS.”

ICRS is pleased to announce a new keynote address, presented by Michael Taylor, practice lead for travel at J.D. Power, and Jennifer Corwin, senior manager, consumer insights, J.D. Power. Their address is titled, “Using customer experience to develop a competitive strategy in the new rental car landscape.”

In this address, Taylor and Corwin will detail the drivers of rental car brand choice, loyalty, and advocacy paying special attention to changing customer expectations in the expanded mobility marketplace.

“We’re excited to bring J.D. Power’s breadth of travel knowledge to the stage,” said Brown. “Michael and Jenni will connect trends across car rental, airlines, and hotels to give our audience the big picture on the customer experience.”

Other schedule changes of note: Gary Macdonald, president of Midway Auto Group, will now deliver the American Car Rental Association (ACRA) keynote address.

The seminars “Improving the Experience in the Digital Age,” has been cancelled because of travel restrictions, as well as “How Car Rental Can Supply and Profit from ‘Vehicles as a Service.’” While there have been adjustments on panel speakers, all other seminars will proceed as planned.

Regarding exhibitors and attendees. While there has been some exhibitor attrition, there are 100 exhibitors scheduled for the show as of today. Total attendance stands at 519 and is climbing. ACRA and ACCRO, the Canadian association, are actively continuing their support.
