Alamo, Enterprise, National to Offer Video TollPass Program

The TollPass Automatic service will pay tolls electronically for car rental customers in California, Colorado, Florida and Texas. The optional service, which charges $2 per 24-hour rental period or $6 maximum per rental transaction, will be available starting August 2010.

Beginning this summer, rental car customers in four states will no longer have to worry about receiving notices for generating unpaid tolls in video tolling areas.

Enterprise Holdings announced May 19 a new upgraded video toll pass service for its Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental customers.

The service, called TollPass Automatic, was announced at the U.S. Travel Association's 2010 International Pow Wow show in Orlando, Fla. This optional service provides the convenience of automatic billing for customers who pass video tolling areas and generate tolls at an automated toll booth. It will be available starting August 2010 to rental customers in Northern California, Colorado, Florida and Texas.

"TollPass Automatic was created to help all of our customers with easy access through toll roads in certain markets utilizing automated toll charges," said Rob Hibbard at Enterprise Holdings.  "However, this option is particularly critical for time-sensitive business travelers. That's because an affordable per use day price - plus toll costs - allows our customers to conveniently drive through automated toll facilities without rolling down the window, stopping to search for coins or waiting in long cash payment lines."

Customers only will be billed for days they use the automated toll road. Costs for the TollPass Automatic program include all toll charges incurred plus a $2 per 24-hour rental period TollPass convenience charge, or $6 maximum per rental transaction.

All Enterprise Holdings' toll pass programs are optional.

Additional highway toll road options for renters include paying cash at each toll stop (not always available at some locations) or avoiding automated toll road usage during the rental. Toll services using an electronic device also are available from Alamo, Enterprise and National in other areas of the country, and although not automatic, still offer renters the convenience of using toll road speed lanes.
