The island of Samoa is changing the side of the road people drive on this year, and thus will change from left- to right-hand drive vehicles. This has members of Samoa’s Car Rental Association wondering what to do with hundreds of unwanted left-hand drive cars, according to Marianas Variety, “Micronesia’s leading newspaper.”

Association president Roy Lee says businesses must first get rid of left-hand drive vehicles, then buy a whole new fleet of right-hand drive cars. Lee says they can’t send the cars to neighboring Samoa because the cars don’t comply with US safety standards. Re-licensing and retraining of employees is another concern.
