PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Avis Rent A Car System said it has opened six new rental facilities as part of the company's local-market expansion. Avis has opened 25 local rental facilities throughout the U.S. since January.

The new locations, situated in California, Texas and Oregon, provide Avis customers with a wide range of rental vehicles including mini-vans, SUVs and luxury vehicles. Also available is free pick-up and drop-off service within a five-mile radius, roadside assistance and, in most cases, unlimited mileage.

All Avis rate plans will be honored, including special inter-city, one-way rates with no drop-off charges between these locations and the airport. Avis also offers an insurance replacement program designed for customers who are having their own cars repaired.

"The local market in the West is an area showing tremendous growth," said Kathie Klopfer, vice president of off-airport development and licensee relations for Cendant Car Rental Group, parent of Avis. "Customers rent from these locations for a variety of reasons -- because they are taking a long trip and they don't want to put the miles on their car or because their own car is being repaired. Our expansion in this market will ensure that Avis is conveniently located to serve all their rental needs."
