PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Avis Rent A Car System announced plans to add 7,000 more XM Satellite Radio-equipped GM cars to its fleet this month.
The service will be available to Avis customers in 30 major cities. The introductory cost for the XM service is $2.99 per day. Avis plans to add another estimated 20,000 GM vehicles with factory-installed XM radios to its fleet throughout the year.
"Making America’s #1 satellite radio service available in our vehicles reflects Avis' commitment to giving our customers the best rental experience possible," said Scott Deaver, executive vice president of marketing for Cendant Car Rental Group, parent company of Avis.
Rental operators can now detect and act on speeding while vehicles are still on rent, thereby reducing fines, admin workload, vehicle wear, and safety risks.
