PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Avis and I.D. Systems announced plans to implement I.D. Systems' fleet management technology on Avis' fleet of approximately 2,000 rental vehicles in Puerto Rico. I.D. Systems' Wireless Asset Net technology will automate various aspects of Avis' car rental and return processes.
"By accurately detecting and automatically transmitting vehicle data, the Wireless Asset Net system will help our customers get into the vehicle of their choice faster at the beginning of the rental, and help get them on their way more quickly at the end of the rental," said Patric Siniscalchi, senior vice president of international operations for Avis.
For example, by maintaining real-time inventory within a rental facility, the system enables quick delivery of the customer's first choice of vehicle type. By automatically uploading vehicle identification numbers as vehicles approach the exit gate, or return to the rental lot, the system collects data and speeds the pickup and return process.
"We look forward to entering this partnership with Avis," said Jeffrey Jagid, chairman and CEO of I.D. Systems. "It opens up an exciting new commercial application of our core wireless asset management technology, and it provides I.D. Systems with significant new opportunities for growth."
