Few things are more inconvenient to business travelers than getting lost while driving, according to Avis’ annual study of travel delays experienced at the customer's destination. But this is a problem that Avis is helping to solve, the auto rental company reports.

Nearly 70 percent of affected travelers consider getting lost to be very or extremely inconvenient, but the good news is that the incidence of Avis business travelers experiencing delays from getting lost while driving has declined by 10 percent compared with 2007—reflecting the increasing popularity of where2, Avis's GPS navigation device.

The study of travel delays also found that one in five renters are experiencing yet another avoidable delay that where2 can help reduce—getting lost while walking around.

The new version of where2 features a large, high-brightness display screen, turn-by-turn directions spoken in more than 40 languages and new services such as weather reports, stock and news updates, Amber Alerts and movie listings provided by MSN Direct.

Avis' where2 units are manufactured by Garmin and are based on Garmin's nüvi 780 model. where2 also offers real-time traffic alerts in 25 major destinations, which can help the 51 percent of business travelers who describe traffic delays as very or extremely inconvenient.

The study also found that 28 percent more women report "getting lost while driving," compared with men.
