PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- In the two years since Cendant Corp. acquired Budget Rent A Car, the rental company has undergone major changes, including a successful move to the Wizard reservation and counter system used by Avis. Cendant has also acquired 25 Budget licensee companies since 2002.
Capital improvements include a new airport location in Detroit; a presence at new consolidated airport facilities in Baltimore, Houston and Oakland; improved lobby and service areas in Denver; and a new service facility in Minneapolis.
Budget facilities in Ft. Lauderdale and at New York's John F. Kennedy and La Guardia airports are undergoing construction now.
Other improvements include implementation of a quality assurance program and new employee uniforms.
The formation of the Cendant Car Rental Group created nearly 250 new jobs at the company’s Morris County, N.J., headquarters. Budget's fleet numbers approximately 105,000 vehicles, more than 10% higher than before the Cendant purchase.
