General Motors is recalling 55,068 Chevrolet Spark cars in the 2016 and 2017 model years because the front passenger air bags pose an injury risk for children, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
If a child is seated improperly and not wearing a seat belt while in the front passenger seat, deployment of the front passenger air bag during a crash may injure the child’s neck, NHTSA said. The level of injury risk is out of compliance with federal safety standards.
