DriveNow, a partnership between BMW and Sixt, has teamed up with MasterCard to offer contactless credit cards for its users to pay for, unlock and operate its car-sharing vehicles, according to a report by PYMNTS.com.
The new contactless credit cards means that DriveNow users won’t need an ID card or the app once they get to the car-sharing vehicle, says the report. To unlock the vehicle, a user can hold the contactless card up to a sensor on the windshield. The account associated with the card will then be billed for each trip.
