To help expand the electric vehicle industry in China, Shanghai-based eHi Auto Services has partnered with China car manufacturer SAIC Motor.

Under the partnership, eHi purchased a fleet of electric cars, including Roewe E50 electric vehicles and Roewe 550 plug-in electric hybrid vehicles, says the company.

Recently, the Chinese government has released policies to further develop the electric vehicle industry, including a waiver of sales tax and free license plates for electric vehicles.

“Both parties have been working together on the rental service of electric vehicles since 2013,” said Ray Zhang, eHi's founder and CEO. “We are very impressed by SAIC's leading technologies, excellent product quality and post-sale services. Our strategic partnership will cover all SAIC product lines from existing vehicle models to future models particularly in alternative energy vehicles. eHi will actively participate in SAIC's product development and market promotion.”

eHi Auto Services has over 700 service locations in more than 90 Chinese cities. eHi continues to expand its electric vehicle rental and free charging services to more cities in China, says the company.
