ST. LOUIS -- The National Urban League and Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced that the two organizations are coming together to address the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The partnership links the nation's oldest and largest community-based organization devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic mainstream, with North America's largest rental car company, and is marked by the election of Enterprise President and Chief Executive Officer Andrew C. Taylor to the National Urban League's Board of Trustees.
As part of the multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership, Enterprise will serve as a corporate sponsor for many of the National Urban League's ongoing programs, as well as participate in and underwrite a four-year research project that will address the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The project, which is in the process of being designed and structured by both the National Urban League and Enterprise, will draw on real-life experiences of successful African-American executives involved with the National Urban League who have worked in American corporations and have helped their organizations adapt to new workers, new cultures and new opportunities.
The goal of the project is to produce a series of "best practices" for building and managing an inclusive workforce that will be available from the Urban League for use by companies seeking guidance in the areas of diversity, inclusion and overall minority representation.
"The opportunity to work with the National Urban League is an honor for me and the Enterprise Rent-A-Car organization," said Taylor. "I know that our organizations together will work hard to address the important topic of a more inclusive corporate America."
Hugh B. Price, President of the National Urban League, said he is confident that the joining of the two organizations will be a positive and successful experience. "We know that this partnership with Enterprise Rent-A-Car will be marked by action, not just talk," he said. "We look forward to working with the employees of Enterprise to continuing the dialogue about the importance of recognizing and advancing diversity within this nation's corporations."
