Enterprise to Lay Off 200 Employees
Enterprise Rent-A-Car reports it will be terminating employees from its St. Louis-area workforce in the information technology area and with some in administration.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car reported on Tuesday that it will be laying off 200 employees, mostly in the information technology area and with some in administration.
The largest grouping of losses will be at the company's headquarters in St. Louis, the largest employee base for the company. In its operating groups, the company anticipates that between all three brands the workforce will be reduced by less than 1 percent.
Enterprise spokesperson Christy Conrad submitted this statement to Auto Rental News.
"We can’t avoid the realities of the world’s impact on the economy and our company, and the actions we are taking are to ensure our long-term strength as an organization. These unprecedented economic times are forcing us to make some very tough decisions which include having to say goodbye to 200 employees who have been valued contributors to our business. Although we have a strong financial foundation, we have to adapt to the changing economy in these uncertain times, and it is clear we must make this decision to preserve the greater number of jobs well into the future. While this is a difficult decision, we are doing everything we can to make sure those employees who leave have the tools to make their transition as easy as possible, including severance, outplacement and letters of recommendation."
Conrad says the company will continue to reduce employee numbers throughout its operating network in the coming weeks, mostly through normal attrition from seasonal ups and down in the business and workforce reductions.
