Europcar unveiled on March 19 a new “low-cost” car rental brand, InterRent, aimed at leisure customers in France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the UK.

InterRent will launch in April with 44 locations and a fleet of 6,000 vehicles, including mini, economy, compact and minivan categories.

“In addition to a low-cost approach, we will offer a client experience based on innovation and quality of service,” said InterRent Director Jehan de Thé. “We plan to double the number of stations and to deploy InterRent outside Europe by 2014.”

Customers can reserve a vehicle at www.interrent.com by providing the date and place of the rental, vehicle category and payment.

Each rental includes 24-hour on-road assistance, mandatory third-party liability insurance and additional coverage for theft and damages. Additional features include GPS, baby seats and extra drivers.

To promote the launch of InterRent, the company initiated an online marketing campaign in all five European countries offering the service.

“With InterRent, we are addressing customers’ needs, expanding our offer, enriching our brand portfolio and entering a growing market, the low-cost car rental segment,” said Europcar CEO Roland Keppler.
