Forth to Start Electric Car Share Program Trial in Under Served Communities

Hood River presents an ideal opportunity to test, asses, and learn how to best offer an electric car sharing service in a rural setting.
Forth announced that it has received funding for the Clean Rural Shared Electric Mobility (CRuSE) Project form the U.S. Department of Energy for Advanced Vehicle Technologies Research.
The CRuSE mobility project hopes to bring electric rideshare services to rural communities and underserved resident in Hood River, Ore. starting in 2020. According to Hood River News, the pilot program received a $548,540 grant.
In the press release, Forth said that Hood River presents an ideal opportunity to test, asses, and learn how to best offer electric car-sharing service in a rural setting in hopes to benefit riders from multiple sectors.
As part of the project, Forth announced it will also provide a Spanish translation of its app to appeal to diverse community members. There will also be the option to use alternative payment methods for those who may not have access to credit cards or bank accounts. Also, tiered pricing structures will be offered to enable different pricing for different user groups, and potential for subsidies to be offered for qualified riders.
